Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality training to new and existing medical coders on coding principles, including ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and other relevant coding systems.
• Create and deliver comprehensive training modules to ensure trainees understand and can apply accurate coding practices.
• Conduct assessments and evaluations to measure coding accuracy, compliance, and knowledge retention.
• Provide hands-on training in coding scenarios, helping coders improve their productivity and accuracy.
• Stay updated with the latest industry coding changes, guidelines, and practices.
• Mentor and provide ongoing support to junior coders, offering feedback to improve performance.
• Develop and maintain coding resources, including training materials and job aids, to assist coders in their daily tasks.
• Ensure that all training activities align with current healthcare regulations and standards.
• Collaborate with other departments to identify training needs and continuously improve training content.

Other Requirements

• CPC Certification (Certified Professional Coder) is preferred.
• Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) certification is preferred.
• COC Certification (Certified Outpatient Coder) is optional, but beneficial.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a medical coder, preferably with hands-on experience in multiple specialties or focus areas.
• Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to teach and explain complex coding concepts clearly.
• A passion for training and mentoring others to improve their skills.
• Ability to work well independently and within a team.
• Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of total work experience in the healthcare industry, with at least 1 years of experience as a Medical Coder.
• Skills & Abilities:
• * Ability to deliver clear and engaging training sessions to diverse audiences.
• * Detail-oriented and capable of evaluating coding accuracy and providing corrective feedback.
• * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
