We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated General Manager of Sales, based in Bangalore, to lead and manage our sales operations for hygiene products, specifically sanitary pads and diapers, across India. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the sales industry, particularly in the hygiene and wellness sector, and will be responsible for driving sales growth, managing modern trade relationships, and leading a nationwide sales team.

Responsibilities

  • Pan-India Sales Strategy and Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive pan-India sales strategy to drive growth in the modern trade segment. Ensure the effective placement and distribution of products in key retail stores nationwide.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and motivate a large sales team spread across different regions of India. Set clear goals and KPIs to ensure the team achieves its sales targets.
  • Account Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with major retail chains, distributors, and modern trade partners across India. Oversee the sales cycle from product placement to in-store visibility.
  • Sales Target Achievement: Drive the achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets, with a focus on both volume and value growth of hygiene products.
  • Market Intelligence: Continuously monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to adapt the sales approach and seize new business opportunities.
  • Sales Reporting & Forecasting: Provide timely and accurate sales forecasts, performance reports, and market insights. Present regular updates to senior management.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, supply chain, and product development, to ensure alignment of sales strategies with business objectives.

Other Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 14-16 years of experience in sales, with a strong background in the hygiene and wellness industry (preferably in sanitary pads and diapers). Experience in managing pan-India sales operations and modern trade accounts is essential.
  • Location: Candidate must be based in Bangalore, with the responsibility of managing operations across India.
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Skills:
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • In-depth knowledge of pan-India retail and modern trade markets
  • Expertise in managing and developing sales teams across India
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in sales forecasting, reporting, and analysis
  • Understanding of consumer behavior and market dynamics in the hygiene industry

Good to have

  • Experience specifically with hygiene and wellness products, especially sanitary pads and diapers.
  • Proven track record of successfully placing products in large retail chains with high monthly revenue.
